This paper aims to portrait the lives of girl soldiers in the perspective of the international law, helping us to understand the child-soldiers phenomenon and its complexity as a war crime. It helps to demonstrate the differences between girl soldiers and boy soldiers and the relevance of their different tasks when it comes to the definition of “participation in hostilities”. In this paper we will study the war crime of conscription, enlistment and use of child-soldiers in order to understand the different types of crime that each one represents. After a juridical study of the girl soldiers, this paper aims to give information about those girl´s realities, their roles within the armed conflict, traumas and life stories. In the end we shall see the problems of the girls’ reintegration in the communities and the situation of girl soldiers nowadays, supported by a UN report of 2016.
