Cuidados de enfermagem especializados à pessoa em situação crítica como dador em paragem cardiocirculatória

Abstract

The following document was produced during a master’s nursing program with a critical care speciality and its purpose is to explain my professional and personal development during the course “Estágio Final e Relatório / Final Internship and Report”. The internship took place in an Emergency Medical Vehicle and Rehabilitation with a component of Emergency Operating Room and an Emergency Paediatric Department of a central hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The sites were chosen considering the pre formulated development objectives in the internship projects, both potentially challenging and rich in learning due to the distinct and complex population coverage. Due to their scope, they allowed the application of the different theoretical themes taught in the master's degree and the promotion of good nursing practices, allowing the development of common and specific skills of specialist nurses. This report is divided in four chapters, with an introduction in the beginning. The first chapter is the scoping review developed to demonstrate my capacity to investigate and to search for evidence-based practice, which in my case was to study “The relevance of critical nursing care in cardiac arrested donors”. The second chapter refers to the description of the clinical internships and the objectives defined to accomplish in each one of them and the third chapter refers specifically to the competencies acquired during the internships. The last chapter consists of a conclusion. In summary this journey allowed for a personal and professional growth as well as a positive contribution in improving the quality of nursing care practiced in both different sites.
