Abstract

The practice of nurses is constantly monitored by a professional commitment related to caring as a way of enforcing people’s rights. This requirement determines the need to acquire various skills, and it is undisputed that the achievement of these which allows to provide care at the level of excellence, resulting in the increase of scientific knowledge and this has to be applied and demonstrated through the testing and training in the context of the action. This report is a requirement to gather and present the lessons learned in an academic context, which includes clinical placements made in different fields of personal health, family and community intervention aimed at specializing in mental health nursing and psychiatry, concerning to achieve the requirements of the plan of this Master of Professional Nursing Nature - Specialization in Mental Health and Psychiatry. The nurse specialist in this area is, by virtue of their training, a professional reference, endowed with attitudes and skills that allow you to participate in the diagnostic evaluation, care planning and guidance of nurses from other areas, for example, with respect to bio-psychosocial factors that influence the responses of the individual in the face of physical illness. In this context, as a Liaison Nurse Consulting can design and implement a range of psychotherapeutic interventions in favor of aid needed at times of great difficulty, inherent to emotional changes resulting from the disease, treatment and / or relationship with the coaches. Can also, of course, be inserted into a community team, and give an important contribution, for example, in reducing the burden of informal caregivers, helping persons who experiences a prolonged disease process or functional dependence, or even next to the nurses who provide direct care, helping them to understand the interconnected aspects of mental health interventions and planning with more significant results in order to achieve a total well-being of the population. But people can experience other transitions and make gains in health with the assistance of specialized nurses in mental health and psychiatry, for example, a crisis that requires hospitalization. It is on these principles that have been planned to stage the various modules, which present the activities undertaken on the results obtained at the client's mental health and consequently their health in general. These were only possible taking into account the skills developed based on the knowledge acquired, expressed in the critical-reflective analysis presented based on the original objectives and self-assessment.
