Today's society is marked by demographic ageing and consequently the appearance of chronic and disabling diseases that require the presence of someone to provide the necessary care. It is in the family that we continue to find the first line of support, where continuous care, leads to increased burden on caregivers, causing problems in physical, psychological, emotional, social and economic level. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the overload on family caregivers and, therefore, will be made of a social demographic questionnaire to the person that takes care; the Caregiver Overload Scale (ESC) (Sequeira, 2007) to assess the burden and yet at the Barthel Index which evaluates the degree of dependency of the elderly. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the overload on family caregivers and, for this, a social demographic questionnaire to the person that takes care, the Caregiver Overload Scale (ESC) (Sequeira, 2007) to assess the burden and still the Barthel Index which evaluates the degree of dependency of the elderly will be referred to. A quantitative study was conducted of not experimental nature, transversal and correlational/causal, attended by 30 family caregivers, mostly female (86.7%), with an average of 60.8 years old (SD = 13.1). A quantitative study of non-experimental, transversal and correlational nature was carried out by 30 family caregivers, mostly female (86.7%), with an average of 60.8 years old (SD = 13.1). Among the main results achieved we can mention the following: the higher the degree of dependence of the elderly, the greater the level of overburden in caregiver; increasing duration of care to the elderly tends to decrease the burden on caregivers; caregivers who provide less than 24 hours of care have higher overhead on the perception of self-efficacy factor; caregivers who do not have support of the informal network show greater burden in terms of the impact of caregiving and, finally, caregivers benefiting from the Home Support Service (SAD) indicate greater burden on the global scale and the impact factor of performance care.
