Abstract

The subject that is developed in this Final Report of the Supervised Teaching Practice, which concerns “Caring for the Planet on the horizon of integral ecology”, is related to the learning contents of the Teaching Unit “Caring for Nature”, teached to a class of the 1st Year of Basic Education. It reflects on environmental and ecological issues that concern humanity, from the approach introduced by the Pope Francisco with the publication of the Encyclical Laudato si’, which defends an integral ecology. In the field of environmental education, it is noted that, in general, students are sensitized to ecological issues, adopting behaviours of reduction, reuse and recycling of waste from consumer products. However, it is necessary to be aware that the problems, that are leading the planet to its collapse, can only be solved if there are profound changes in the way we live and how we use natural resources. The pedagogical plan we propose aims to demonstrate that it is possible to teach 1st Year EMRC students to care for the Planet within the horizon of integral ecology. The pedagogical plan that we propose wants to demonstrate that it is possible to teach 1st Year EMRC students to take care of the Planet in the horizon of integral ecology. For this, we adopt physical and digital resources, which make learning motivating, appealing, challenging and, at the same time, profound, consolidated and permanent. In this way, students developed knowledge and practices related to the creation of the world, the beauty of created creatures, the world as a great common home, the degradation of nature due to the exploitation of resources and the failure of care, the ways to remedy the damage caused and the care we must provide to nature, so that it remains alive, clean and happy.
