Cuidar o doente em situação crítica

Abstract

The development of this report appears under the course of Report, embedded in the master in Nursing with specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in order to obtain the master degree and to show the route taken in the internship’s different modules in the Emergency Department of the S. Sebastião’s Hospital, in the Cardio Thoracic Intensive Care in the S. João’s Hospital and in the North Regional Delegation of the National Institute of Medical Emergency. This report is extremely important once it describes a series of activities and strategies taken all along the internship, which aim was to answer the institutional necessities and personal objectives previously outlined. It can also express the technical, scientific and relational skills taken in the nursing care to sick people, their family and groups that live with critical illness and organic scarceness processes which may cause life-threatening resulting in the acquisition of new skills, developed in a reflexive practice based on an advanced practical nursing. The methodology employed in this document is descriptive and analytic, based on reflection and description of the different activities done in the internship. It is divided in three parts, recognized as introduction, development work and conclusion. In the introduction I developed the overall framework of the report and of the internship, the modules and its explanation, the choice and a brief abstract of the internship places. The development was organized by general objectives defined in the syllabus, and personal objectives outlined in the draft stage, in different skills like: specialized care, professional, ethic and legal responsibility, quality management in care and resources and in the personal and professional formation, in order to systematize the apprenticeship through the report of the activities done, the recognized problem situations, referring strategies and its solutions, expressing the developments in the medical-surgical nursing area, specifically in the adult and elder sick advanced nursing assistance in critical situation. In the conclusion I fall upon the achievement of the proposed targets, of the gotten results, of the obtained apprenticeship and reflections, that allowed attitude’s and behavior’s change in the professional and personal practice, that are going to be reproduced in a more effective responsiveness to the problems in the Specialization’s area in Medical Surgical Nursing
