Abstract
In the last decade, the increasing use of communication platforms perpetuatedsignificant changes in the process of human socialization, provoking a greater social emphasis on crimes such as Stalking and Cyberstalking. Furthermore, this type of crime is mostly frequent in young populations, where the access to the Internet and social networks is recurrent, in a negative way, impacting their lives both personally and professionally. In this context, the present study aimed to study the association between personality traits and Cyberstalking, analyze Cyberstalking in terms of sociodemographic variables, analyze personality in terms of sociodemographic variables and identify the predictors of Cyberstalking. This is a quantitative study of the descriptive type. The sample will be collected through the non-probabilistic sampling method, once the snowball sampling method is used. For data collection, a sociodemographic questionnaire, a Cyberstalking Assessment Scale (EAC) and Five Factor Inventory related personality traits will be used (NEO-FFI 20). The results obtained revealed a negative correlation between some of the dimensions of Cyberstalking (Transference to real life, Hyperintimacy, Threat and Sabotage) and personality traits (Kindness and Openness to Experience). It was found that male, older individuals who are in a relationship are more likely to become victims of online attempts than young and female individuals. It was also possible to confirm that kinder individuals, open to new experiences, with greater literary qualifications, are more regularly targeted by this type of crime.
