On this essay, we intend to analyse the legal framework of Digital Platform service providers in Platforms such as Uber, addressing the on demand economy phenomenon, but also the current standing presumptions of employment within Portuguese labour law, in order to try and find a solution for this problem, resorting to an analysis of other legal systems treatment on this regard. We’ll also be addressing some pressing Digital Platforms’ economic issues that raise relevant Justice discussions such as the subject of surge pricing, having learned the basic economic concepts referring to these Platforms.
