Abstract

This report is intended to describe an analytical, critical and constructive and reflective way the activities and skills acquired and developed in the different modules of the inserted stage in the 7th Nursing Master's Degree Specialization in the area of Medical-Surgical Nursing, the Institute of Health Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University. The selection of training courses in the different modules fell on the need to develop expertise in providing specialized care to the person and his family in a critical condition in environments and different contexts to our professional practice until then. Thus, the course stage was composed of three modules: Module I - ER was conducted in the ER of a Hospital of Public-Private Partnership (HPPP) of the District of Lisbon, between April 28 and June 21 of 2014, where we highlight the training conducted on nursing care to the Person in critical situation victim of trauma and nursing transfer sheet of the patient victim of trauma. These interventions aimed the comfort of the person as well the increase of quality, safety and continuity of care; Module II - Intensive Care held in the ICU of a Private Hospital in the District of Lisbon (HPDL), from September 8 to November 1 of 2014, in which we noted the provision of nursing care, specialized and customized according to the Person in critical condition needs, specifically the patient undergoing heart surgery and his family, through the development of the Standard of Nursing Care of the Patient Procedure under Non Invasive Ventilation and Integrative Literature Review with the most current and relevant scientific evidence about Parenteral Alimentation in ICU; Module III - Optional was elapsed in VMER of a Central Hospital of the District of Lisbon (HCDL) in the period from 1 December 2014 to 31 January of 2015, enabled the provision of specialized nursing care to the person in emerging critical situation in Prehospital context and his family and reflection on clinical decision making. The elaboration of a case study about a person with EAMCST allowed better understanding about the path, recommendations, treatment and nursing care needed for the patient at imminent risk of life where the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, surveillance, time and promoting health and its warning signs assume a leading role on the stage of national health. Thus, in order to grant visibility to the profession that we so proudly represent, strengthen quality praxis, competent, safe, scientific and human progress towards autonomy are predicates that accompany us in our daily professional practice, bequeath to our peers and manifest within a framework with the display of a practice of specialized nursing.
