This report incorporated the learning, reflections and knowledge acquired from the internship carried out in the course unit "Final Internship and Report", as well as all the experiences and skills acquired during the professional career and internships, integrated in the 14th Master's Degree in Nursing with specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of the Person in Critical Condition, of the Universidade Católica, Porto. The internships carried out within the scope of the course unit "Final Internship and Report" took place in the context of Extra-Hospital Emergency, in the Immediate Life Support, in the Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle and in the Emergency Department. This final internship report reflects a reflective analysis of the clinical practice observed and implemented in the different internship fields, as a process that promotes the construction of learning and acquisition of specialized nursing skills in the area of caring for critically ill patients. This critical - reflective analysis constituted a means of promoting a survey of the needs of the services in which the internships were carried out and, in this sense, papers were prepared, including an integrative review of the literature based on scientific research in order to bring change, evidence-based knowledge to standardize care, providing quality and specialized nursing care in different areas. The literature review was conducted in order to demonstrate that the impact of interruptions resulting from the moment of assessment and prioritization of the patient at the triage station of the Emergency Department can have consequences for the patient, such as errors and/or delays in medical observation, impacting the quality of care. All the activities developed and the reflections analyzed contributed and formed the basis of my professional and personal development for an improvement in the practice of safe and quality care of critically ill patients.
