Abstract

This report is intended to be the conclusion of an evolutionary process, through which I seek to highlight how it was built and developed the whole process of learning and change of habits that aimed at the acquisition and development of skills for the advance nursing assistance of elder and adult patients with severe illness, specifically aimed at the critical patient assistance, in the sphere of the Nursing Master´s Degree Course with Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing. In compliance with the study plan, relative to the internship unit in the field of Medical-surgical nursing, the following units were developed: Unit III – Infection Control Committee carried out in Luz Hospital, here I outline as a propose, to develop skills in the Hospital Infection Control committee intervention field of the medical-surgical specialized nurse, aimed to the intervention in the prevention and control of the infection associated to the patient health care, developing skills mainly in the area of training and supervising of patient care. Unit I – Urgency, run out in Cascais Hospital, with the objective of skill development in the field of Medical-surgical specialized nurse intervention for improvement of healthcare to high and intermediate risk patients and family assistance in the urgency context, ,which was aimed to the delivery of quality health care, organized and planed, enabling an holistic approach, supported in global care directly related with the surveillance and/or prevention and infection control, where prevail the developing of specialized clinical skills, management and supervision of health care. Unit II –– Intensive Care - accepted due to relevant experience in the area since I practice in intensive care unit for more than 10 years. I consider that it is by reflection upon the practice that skills are developed, knowledge is enlarged and behaviors evolve. This entire path was essential for the acquisition and confirmation of competences as a Medical-Surgical specialized nurse
