Under the Post-Graduate course in Nursing with Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing, this report focuses on the training modules developed in the Emergency Department (Module I) and Multipurpose Intensive Care Unit (Module II) of the Braga Hospital and Pre- Hospital Care of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (Module III). It is based on the critical, reflective and descriptive analysis of the activities that have been developed, in conjunction with the skills acquired throughout the theoretical and practical academic career, besides being an evaluation tool. The methodology selected for this report is the descriptive and reflective methodology, which combined the research with the theory discussed in class, being also guided by both professional and personal experiences. This method identifies and characterizes the interventions developed and reflects the encountered difficulties during the process, and the strategies selected to overcome them. The organization of this document was defined by the skills acquired along this course, which are inclusive of the competence fields of a Specialist Nurse, defined by the Nurses Professional Body Association. The internship sites were proved as enhancers / learning facilitators and of knowledge acquisition and consolidation, allowing as a future specialist nurse to elevate the quality of care practices and to achieve excellence. The critical reflection on the practical work in this learning process has resulted as a connecting element between professional identity and learning experiences. The added value on this ongoing reflection was equivalent across all areas and was the basis of awareness of the difficulties, adopted strategies and permanent contributions to the personal and professional growth. This coordination allowed the triggering of learning and overcoming difficulties processes, as well as achieving the recommended skills for a specialist nurse in medical-surgical nursing. This stage contributed to the acquisition of scientific, methodological and professional skills, providing a specialized practice based on deep respect for ethical and social principles. The stage proved to be an opportunity to evolve in the context of nursing care, which must be based, dynamic and directed to patient care.
