A family is a group of individuals united by a “blood bond ". It has its foundation in marriage with its "properties of unity and indissolubility", so that it may become "a perfect union of body and souls founded upon the reciprocal solicitude and unreserved dedication, "between a man and a woman. However, today's society is going through a very controversial spiritual and social period that affects the vital epicenter of the Church and the society that is the family. Faced with these challenges, there is need for a Church to intervene in such situations that often leave families in complex situations. In response, the Amoris Laetitia exhortation, a magisterial document on marriage and family, recommends to pastors that families in complex situations should be welcomed and understood. It proposes to them the way of discernment in the light of the gospel of marriage and Family and, later, be integrated into the ecclesiastical community.
