Abstract

The main purpose of this dissertation is to identify: the degree of exposure of the MBA program of Católica Porto Business School (CPBS) to the future challenges of business schools predicted in the academic literature; and the main value attributes of the school and its program. To do so, data provided by the MBA students of CPBS and Porto Business School (PBS), as well as the information provided by the directors of these programs, will be compared with the information presented in the academic literature. The method used to collect information from the students was a survey and interviews with some of my colleagues. Regarding the data obtained from the directors of the aforementioned programs, they were strictly collected through granted interviews. After analyzing the data collected from the interviews and surveys, with the challenges raised by the literature, it is concluded that CPBS is only exposed to a very limited range of obstacles namely the possible outdatedness of its MBA program and the emergence of new types of competition through online programs associated with technological advancement. However, the risk associated with the exposure to these challenges is quite low for Católica Porto Business School. Regarding the main value attributes of CPBS, it is concluded that the school’s location and the frequency of classes in the program are the main factors that attract candidates to this school.
