Abstract

The article Descendit ad Inferos that’s within the Apostles’ Creed wasn’t looked indepth during the centuries in the theological discourse. Starting by a theological approximation to the notion of Hell, going through a Christological reading of the Harrowing of Hell and then ending up on the sight through the glasses of the contemporary history to the same article, makes us go through the evolution of the discourse about the Christological sense of this article in the set of the Faith’s Symbol, which is centered in the mystery of Holy Saturday, where Christ gets solidarity with us. This investigation is profoundly soteriological and is inspired by a great group of renowned authors The dogmatic work that we can find in the joint work of Mysterium Salutis by Hans Urs von Balthasar is the work that’s the most discussed in this dissertation. In the theme «solidarity of the Christ», He experiences the harrowing of hell like someone’s already dead, the hiatus, the brutal silence of the Word from where Jesus comes victorious since He frees himself the shackles of death, carrying with Him Salvation for all Humanity. This is our main theme.
