The theme "Riqueza e Sentido dos Afetos”, worked on in the context of Educação Moral e Religiosa Católica (EMRC), focuses on the importance of affectivity and sexuality in a person's integral development, especially during adolescence. This theme is central because adolescence is a critical transitional phase in which significant physical, emotional and social changes take place. During this period, young people form their personalities and begin to understand the value of affection, interpersonal relationships and ethical choices that will shape their lives. Affectivity is defined in our work as the natural capacity of human beings to experience feelings and emotions, such as love, friendship, compassion, and even feelings of pain or loss. These feelings are essential for personal, social and moral development, as they help young people to understand themselves and others better, establishing healthy and responsible bonds. This aspect becomes even more relevant during adolescence, when the construction of one's own identity and the need for social belonging are intensified. Sexuality, in turn, is approached as an intrinsic element of the human condition, profoundly affecting people's identity and personality. The work emphasises that sexuality must be understood and lived consciously and responsibly, promoting a positive and ethical understanding of the body and human relationships. In the context of EMRC, the theme of affections is approached from an educational perspective, allowing students to reflect on the affective and sexual dimension of the human being. This reflection helps young people to develop the ability to live their affections in a balanced and constructive way, valuing relationships and human dignity. The aim is to lead students to recognise that affections are part of life and that they need to be guided ethically. The EMRC programme, in dealing with this topic, also presents a Christian perspective on the value of affections, relating them to the concept of "gift". Affectivity is seen as a gift, and love, in the Christian tradition, is the central value that guides all human relationships. From this point of view, students are encouraged to see love not just as an emotion, but as a choice and an action aimed at the good of the other.
