Abstract

Company Ramirez is a canning industry that has existed in Portugal since 1853. Like all food industries, it presents several certificates in quality management and/or food safety standards, namely BRC, IFS and ISO 9001. These standards assist companies in implementing a proper food quality and safety management system by indicating requirements that must be fulfilled. Thus, through this management system, companies control the risks associated with their processes and, therefore, obtain safe and quality products, taking into account the concerns and preferences of consumers. However, some of these standards require the presence of a document management system that is also very important for the functioning of companies. Document management, in addition to managing all the documents of a company, allows that there is no lack of information and/or fraudulent / altered information, thus making it possible to establish an effective communication between the various departments. Moreover, due to the emergence of the digital age, companies have to adapt their processes to it. In this way, the document management that was previously done through paper should be performed digitally. So, during my internship, I configured an application called Uebe.Q to, subsequently, be implemented and used to manage all existing documents in the company. Still, so that the application was in accordance with the food safety management system existing in the company, I considered that the UEBE. Q should also present a module on safety management as presents one for quality management. In view of the work carried out, I concluded that in addition to all the importance associated with quality management systems and food safety, a correct document management system is essential for the proper functioning of a company.
