The present internship report comes under the scope of the 13th Master in MedicalSurgical Nursing, in the area of Specialization of the Person in Critical Situation at the Institute of Health Sciences of the Catholic University of Portugal. It aims to describe and critically analyze the activities carried out in the internship, which allowed the acquisition of specialized skills in nursing. Two internship modules were carried out. The first in the context of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the second module took place in the Emergency Department. It sets out the planned objectives, the accomplished activities, translating into the presentation of skills that resulted from this learning process to obtain the degree of Master of Nursing with Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing. The correlation between the theoretical training and the practical exercise provided by the internship field was fundamental, both in the improvement of opportunities for analysis and reflection, and in the consolidation and acquisition of skills. During this course, a narrative review of the literature was carried out, which aims to raise awareness of the implications of the pandemic to COVID-19 in hospital nursing care. Thus demonstrating the importance of evidence-based practice, through the analysis of standards and guidelines in order to verify their scientific validation, promoting quality health care and safe practices. The path taken in the internships and the experience of the projects developed motivated reflection and promoted the acquisition of new skills in the area of specialized care for people in critical situations, focusing on the safety and quality of specialized nursing care.
