The present study aims to adapt to the Portuguese population the questionnaire Positive Youth Development, developed by Richard M. Lerner, Jacqueline Lerner, Erin Phelps, colleagues and students (2010). Its relevance lies in the fact that this questionnaire has an underlying theoretical framework innovative and comprehensive, allowing a better understanding of the adolescence development. Moreover, it can also support the development and evaluation of interventions in this area since the programs developed up to now have as emphasis prevention rather than promoting adaptive behaviors and attitudes. Based on two studies, with the use of samples M0 (n = 670) and M1 and M2 (n = 351), the instrument was been studied in terms of validity and reliability. The results obtained indicate the adequacy of the model at the M0, c ² = 121,270, p <.001, c ² / df = 1.661, CFI = .973, PCFI = .676 and RMSEA = .036, and in M1 and M2, c ² = 107,573, p <.001, c ² / df = 1.606, CFI = .943 PCFI =, 943 and RMSEA = .043. It also demonstrated the existence of convergent and discriminant validity through the questionnaire SDQ and the existence of temporal Reliability, considering that the results do not differ significantly between the two time points and correlate positively. These data seem to ensure the validity and reliability of the questionnaire Positive Youth Development, Portuguese version.
