Abstract

This report consists in a self-conscious analysis, theoretically sustained, about my professional experience as a 3rd cycle and secondary teacher. I have been a teacher of Physics and Chemistry mostly, but this cannot be detached from all the other tasks I have been assigned to and which have as well formed my professional identity. This report substantiates a spiral construction of my knowledge based on professional paths that I have revisited. As my professional life proceeds, I find a new knowledge and new competences; I abandon old perspectives and embrace new horizons. This text presents three striking moments in my professional development: the approach to my job and the following training; another perspective of the job as a supervisor for the teaching of students with special needs, which has brought a new branch in the educational community; the dynamics of leadership and cooperation that I have held as the head of both my disciplinary group and department. The construction process of this essay and the analysis and reflexion I have placed on it, has allowed me find new meanings and reinterpret old practices, emotions and reasons introducing a new look upon my identity as a teacher within a multicultural school. Reviewing the lenses of theory has helped me draw a conceptual and integrated sketch so as to enable the development of the school in the search for the success of all its elements: teachers; students; parents and society.
