Abstract

The present study is part of the research project of the national assessment of the ASEBA battery test for the evaluation of schoolchildren (Achenbach, Rescorla, Dias, Ramalho, Sousa Lima, Machado & Gonçalves, 2014) and aims to evaluate the differences in the agreement between informants in the evaluation of psychopathological symptoms according to the level of academic achievement in Portuguese students. It was used a stratified random sampling (by region, type of education, year of schooling and sex) of 1510 students attending distinct levels of schooling from the Elementary School to High School Education. Moreover, there were used the three instruments of the ASEBA battery set validated for the Portuguese population: CBCL, YSR and TRF. The results suggest that agreement between parents and teachers is higher in high RA than in low RA, and that among young people and teachers there are significant differences in relation to total problems, and the agreement between young people and teachers is higher in low RA than in the average RA and PI, and the agreement between youngsters and teachers is higher in the average RA than in the low RA. Finally, the results obtained reflect a high degree of agreement between parents and youngsters regarding the psychopathological symptoms as a function of RA, and there do not seem to be significant differences in the same. This result highlights the degree of agreement between parents and children in the distinct levels of RA, since it is possible to infer that the level of RA does not influence parents' and children's perspective on the psychopathological symptomatology. The results are discussed considering the literature review.
