This project work report comes from the Masters Course in Science of Education – Specialising in Administration and School Organisation, in the school year 2013/2014 and its presentation and public discussion are aimed at obtaining a Masters degree in this scientific area. Although no one would question the perks of using computers in schools, there are still many issues on how it should be used in a pedagogical context and whether this is a widespread reality. This project was intended to boost the use of the moodle platform, in a consortium of schools, from the northern region of the country in the district of Porto, made up of 11 schools (9 infant and primary schools, 2 middle schools and a secondary school). The aim was to enhance a digital culture for communication and integration of several teachers/students in the consortium. During this intervention, collaborative work amongst teachers was encouraged so as to improve their teaching practices by using new technological tools and, consequently, to create teaching situations that would be considered more challenging and thus more motivating for students. Based on the analysis of teacher’s contributions during the intervention project, it is highlighted that new technologies are understood by them as a communication enhancer, interactive, collaborative and socialising, and promoting of a learning context, making use of the diversity of resources available on the web, allowing the improvement of knowledge. At the end of this project we reached the conclusion that, although some community members are committed to using this platform, there’s still a long way to go. It is still necessary to continue investing in the area of training of teachers and technologies and their applicability inside and outside the classroom.
