The food chain has an extremely important role in what happens to foods that are available to the consumer. The regulations of the State and the European Union boosted compliance with specific safety requirements to be fulfilled by all actors in the supply chain. The legislation establishes the responsibility of those actors on hygiene and food safety until the time as the food product is made available and purchased by the consumer. From this moment, a lot can happen and all the previous work, may be jeopardized because of inappropriate behavior of the consumer. Training, education and information are consumer rights. This study focuses exactly on the combination of variable information, behavior and responsibility. It became, in addressing the issue of liability "from farm to fork ', put the pertinent question: What is the responsibility of the consumer?' After a theoretical approach, the food chain, the rights and duties of the consumer, the consumer as a factor in food insecurity and attribution of responsibility for the consequences of inappropriate eating behaviors was carried out a practical approach to how consumers perceive their responsibility for food. In this approach it follows that 86.76% of consumers recognize the respondents ease of access to information, however, a reasonable slice recognizes not always use it. The consumer is considered to be informed (95.58%), however, relies on its way of being at the preparation and meals at home. There is recognition of the responsibility of food. However, acceptance of accountability for such responsibility is not consensual. The consumer is the element of the food chain around which everything runs, but this does not relieve him, however, also notes its responsibility in terms of hygiene and food safety.
