Abstract

Art is of great importance for human development, because as well as being a form of expression of a civilisation's point of view, it is also a great disseminator of values and customs for our society. Through art, we perceive the world, customs, social values, the organisation of society, the human identity of a particular place and a particular time. It interweaves people's daily lives and allows human beings to understand, express and recreate their existence. In this study, ‘Education through Art’ is considered as a strategy to promote motivation and learning in children with SEN - special needs, enabling an effective approach to foster the integration and articulation of scientific areas and areas of expression. Through artistic expressions, the aim is to emphasise creativity as a vehicle for inclusion, for the cognitive and social development of these children. This dissertation is to promote innovative pedagogical practices that integrate art into the educational process, highlighting interventions that demonstrate improvements in students' self-esteem, communication and engagement. The aim is to contribute to reflection on the importance of art in creating more inclusive and stimulating educational environments, promoting inclusive learning that turns into school success.
