: intervenção do enfermeiro especialista em saúde infantil e pediátrica

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to critically analyse the progress achieved during the Internship Programme, inserted in the Masters in Paediatrics and Child Health. Its elaboration was based on a research: descriptive, reflexive and scientific evidence-based guideline, having as a transversal theme to the various modules, the promotion of a greater and better comfort to the newborn (NB). This process was theoretically based on the Kolcaba Theory of Comfort and the Scoping Review with the title 'Nursing Interventions Promoting Comfort to Hospitalized Children'. Both of these constituted the starting point of the research. This Curricular Unit was divided into three contexts of clinical practice: Neonatology, where I call the attention to the importance of a Learning Diary, based on the promotion of comfort through touch as well as a Training Session for parents, which addressed the value of proximity and physical contact, as a supporter of the emotional and physical comfort to the newborn. It also included a Scoping Review with the Title: "Babywearing: benefits for the new NB - family dyad"; Primary Health Care, where I highlight two educational trainings on strategies that promote comfort during sleep, in the first 3 months of the baby's life and activities that encourage the development and, lastly, Pediatric Urgency Service. On the later, I elaborated a reflection on the importance of the Paediatrics and Child Health Specialist Nurse in the development of comfort to the NB and an activity book that promotes the recreational activities. I believe that this practical and academic journey allowed me to develop specific competences on specialized care for the child and his family. The development of these skills demanded a constant investigation of scientific evidence, with the final goal of increasing the empowerment of the family in promoting comfort to the child.
