Abstract

This report, within the scope of the Master's Degree in Creative Industries Management, documents the intern's journey in the Cultural Events Programming Division (DPEC) of Valongo City Council, and explores her practical experience in managing and producing cultural events, with an emphasis on the EntreLinhas - Festa do Ferroviário event. This internship made it possible for the trainee to put into practice the knowledge acquired during the course units. Through other tools acquired during the internship, it was possible to understand the importance of organizing and managing cultural events, and how their professionalization enables the acquisition of tools for producing events that strengthen the community's cultural identity, making it more cohesive. The possibility of evaluating cultural events puts professionals in the field in a privileged position to positively change society by promoting cultural experiences. Cultural programming departments such as DPEC have emerged as a response to the need to boost this cultural development in society. Participating in various stages of DPEC projects has allowed me not only to experience and understand the role of cultural programming, but also to identify the direct link between this division and the cultural and social development of the Valongo region.
