Few social-demographic factors are point out in literature to contribute to parental involvement and consequently, for scholar success. With this work, we aimed at identifying which ones are the socio-demographic factors that promote parental involvement as well as confirming that those contribute to scholar success. It is also aimed at understanding the relationship between school and family and analyse in which way conflicts can be solved, promoting like this active listening and communication. In a sample of 62 parents and 4 professors from 1st and 4th grades of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education from the academic year 2011/2012, we evaluated 3 dimensions of parental involvement: school-family communication, family involvement in school activities and family involvement in home activities that promote learning. Our results identified that parents with low educational levels are involved in their children's school, namely in home activities that promote learning. We also verified a lack of communication between school and family that must be promoted instead, to stimulate cooperation between parents and teachers.
