Parental involvement has proved to be a relevant topic throughout the residential care process, although it is a critical area since the contact between the staff and the family of origin is characterized by various obstacles and tensions. Research into this involvement from the perspective of the family of origin is uncommon in the literature. This study explores the psychometric properties of the questionnaire Measuring Parent Engagement in Foster Care (Alpert & Britner, 2009) and assesses parental involvement in residential care, analyzing the relationship between sociodemographic and foster care variables. The study involved 111 parents with children in residential care. The results showed that the parents' employment situation has a significant relationship with parental involvement. The instrument used is extremely relevant to the field, as it allows us to understand the family of origin's perception of the whole process of residential care for their children and how the relationship with the CAR team can facilitate the whole process.
