This report describes activities, critically analyzes and reflects the route taken at the Masters in Nursing specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the Institute of Health Sciences - Catholic University of Portugal (UCP-ICS). In order to acquire and develop those skills in providing care to the person in critical condition and his family realized my clinical teaching in the following services: Palliative Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Permanent Medical Care (AMP) Hospital da Luz.The cross-sectional area of my journey is the "Active Listening in nursing - A comforting intervention," my goal is to mobilize this knowledge area in Clinical Teachings performed. Active listening is an art in the heart of the practice of the nurse and, therefore, each of us must develop it. This is the key to the reduction of risk factors, preventing complications and improves health outcomes, allowing the client to feel comfortable, safe and understood. During the Internship was possible to mobilize this knowledge area, making it an integral part of my professional acting through the relationship established with clients and their families and raising awareness among nurses for their practice in providing care. At the Palliative Care Unit developed the theme inherent in the promotion of Hope in nursing care with the aim of contributing to the determination of the level of hope in hospitalized person. I made an action awareness, as well as a procedure in the area of care that provides guidelines for the applicability of the Hope Scale Hearth, accompanied by a pocket tab / card with key nursing interventions that promote hope. In UCI I promoted an Action to raise awareness about caring for the person who is end of life and your family. Structured procedure and reflective drafted an article on the subject. In AMP I presented the results of my Systematic Review of the Literature to the nursing team while taking sensitized to the importance of research in nursing. In developing the report describe the goals set and achieved through activities that allowed the development of skills of nurse specialist.
