Abstract

This report emerges from the scope of the Master's Degree in Nursing in the Specialization Area of Medical-Surgical Nursing and intends to demonstrate, in a critical and reflective way, the activities developed and the skills acquired throughout the internships and their importance in the performance of functions as a nurse specialist. The course encompassed three internship camps that allowed for diversified experiences and learning. They took place in the following order: Internship referring to Module I - Intensive Medicine Service; Internship alluding to Module II - Emergency Department; Internship corresponding to Module III - Optional Module, Local Unit of Prevention and Control of Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance Program. Thus, this report seeks to reflect the entire path taken throughout the last two internships, which, by curricular organization belong to it, through the critical and reflective analysis of the practice, which aimed at the excellence of Nursing care and the development of fundamental skills that characterize the Nurse Specialist in Medical Surgical Nursing, in the area of the person in critical condition. However, considering the relevance and importance of the journey in the acquisition of more and new competences, the first internship will also be briefly addressed. It also includes a chapter on the theme of Spirituality, this theme being my focus of attention in this journey and on which an Integrative Literature Review was conducted. The specific objectives outlined were to provide excellent and specialized nursing care to critically ill patients and their families in various contexts, as well as to contribute to improving the quality of care through holistic care that covers the whole person (biopsychosocial, cultural and spiritual. The spiritual dimension is an integral part of the humanisation and comprehensive provision of health care. Investing in spiritual care promotes the improvement of the quality of Nursing care and contributes to the safety and well-being of patients. The description and reflection in this report allowed me to critically analyze the course developed, from a perspective of personal and professional growth. Through descriptive, analytical and reflective methodology, using scientific evidence and focusing on the experiences of the internships, I was able to highlight the learning and skill development path. The combination of knowledge with lived experiences shows the achievement of competencies in this area of specialization, providing autonomy and safety in professional performance in urgent/emergency situations.
