Student thesis: Master's Thesis

Abstract

This curricular internship report was made during the second year of the Master’s program in Sound and Image at the School of Arts of Universidade Católica Portuguesa. It reflects the experiences and work carried out in the area of Animation for the Portuguese studio Volt Games located in Lisbon, Portugal. From the start of my academic career, I have developed a greater interest in the medium of videogames, but mainly in the implementation and use of animation as a tool to create unique and memorable experiences. For six months, I was responsible for developing a variety of animations and their implementation in the company’s projects. This experience enabled me to put into practice the knowledge I gained at Escola das Artes which proved to be instrumental in enriching the visual communication of the projects that I was involved in. This internship permitted me to acquire and perfect my skills in dealing with new software and work methodologies, which was only possible by being in contact with professionals from the videogame work environment. This report aims to document every stage of the internship, from the projects carried out to learning new methodologies and concepts and utilizing Unity Engine as a tool. It also underscores the role of my Animation background in elevating the quality of the company’s work.
