Abstract
Introduction: In the field of Oral Rehabilitation, technological advancementsand the increasing use of digital workflows have become a reality every day, leading to the introduction of new techniques for fabricating dental prostheses.
Polymethylmethacrylate is the most commonly used polymer in Dentistry for the
fabrication of prosthetic bases. Inherent disadvantages have led to the emergence of various types of resin to overcome these issues, such as the CAD/CAM system. Color change is often the cause of patient dissatisfaction with prosthetic rehabilitation. The main objective is to determine the color stability of different acrylic resins used for fabricating prosthetic bases obtained through different processing techniques. Methodology: Sixty acrylic resin samples were prepared using different processing methods. The samples were subjected to the same polishing protocol and subsequently underwent a pigmentation protocol using distilled water, red wine, and instant coffee. Color readings were performed using a colorimeter. The obtained data were statistically analyzed using the SPSS software, with a significance level set at 0.05. Results: Coffee was the solution that induced the highest color variation over time in all processing methods. Water showed the lowest color variation values except in the 3D/90º printing method, where wine showed lower values. Regarding the processing method of acrylic resins, the 3D/90º printing method showed the highest color variations in all resins. Next was the 3D/0º printing method, followed by milling,
and finally, the traditional method had the lowest color variation values. Conclusion: The conventional acrylic resin was the one that exhibits the
highest color stability over the course of 10 days. 3D printing resins showed the
greatest variation in color over time, with resin printed at 90º being the least stable.
