Abstract

The Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS’s) are currently characterized as being dynamic organizations in constant change, that together with profit organizations, need competent professionals with leadership qualities, capable of influencing employee behavior, leading them to the achievement of organizational objectives, as well as simultaneously promoting the satisfaction of the team members in relation to the various facets of the work. The main objective of the present study is to understand the relationship between the leadership styles used by technical directors, and employee satisfaction in 9 IPSS’s in the districts of Guarda and Viseu. In this way, through a quantative, descriptive, cross sectional and correlational study, it was verified that according to the 85 employees questioned, the relational leadership style is what promotes greater satisfaction. On the other hand, when relating leadership style, orientated towards task satisfaction, lower job satisfaction values were obtained. A study of the hypothesis allows us to observe that the variables: gender, type of contract, time of contract, qualifications and social response which they are assigned with, interfere with the employee work satisfaction in the IPSS’s studied.
