This report is part of the Curricular Unit "Final Internship and Report", integrated in the 14th Master's Degree in Nursing with a Specialty in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the area of Critical Situation, of the Instituto Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP). The report, now presented, aims to address the process of acquiring skills, through a critical and reflective analysis of the internship contexts that underpin the training process, giving the opportunity to explore and put into practice the Common Skills of the Specialist Nurse, as well as the Skills specific to the nurse specialised in medical-surgical nursing in the area of critical situation. In this training course I had the opportunity to select the internship contexts according to my professional interest, which were carried out in an Emergency Operating Room; Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle and Intensive Care Unit – Cardiothoracic Surgery. Corroborating what was stated by the Ordem dos Enfermeiros (2019), we are pleased to note that the relevance and current technical and scientific requirements inherent to health care and, consequently, to Nursing care motivate differentiation and specialization. Therefore, it is essential for growing as a professional to acquire skills that distinguish us as providers of care and promoters of well-being in the health-disease transition process. Having as a premise the promotion of better care and the development of skills and knowing today that the concept of hospital infection control is essential for the provision of quality care, I considered it essential to study the recommendations for the prevention of infection associated with intravascular devices and taking into account the that as well as having knowledge of these, it is important to know how to enhance their applicability, it was decided to place the defect of the matter on the care promoting agent, having drawn up a scoping review entitled “Strategies for adherence of health professionals to recommendations for preventing disease”. infection associated with intravascular devices”.
