Abstract

This report, carried out as part of the Master's Degree in Music Teaching at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Porto, is divided into two parts. The first part describes the path taken during the Professional Practice (PP), made in the school year 2021/2022, in the areas of specialization of Instrument - Violin and Ensemble Class, and the second part presents, in the format of scientific article, the qualitative research that was carried out in the PP, regarding the conception, planning, implementation and evaluation of the Pedagogical Intervention Project (PIP), under the theme "Active teaching strategies for the development of technical-artistic and socioemotional skills of Violin Initiation students". The Professional Practice was carried out at the Conservatório Regional do Algarve Maria Campina (CRAMC), with Professor Luísa Orvalho as scientific advisor and Professor Nuno Rodrigues as cooperating pedagogical advisor. The motivation for the implementation of this intervention project arose from the need, empirically felt, to provide innovative learning experiences to the beginning violin students of CRAMC, who, due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, saw the teaching and learning context of the Conservatory very compromised. The PIP, materialized in a series of 10 thematic group lessons called “À Quarta…família com arte”, was attended by 6 students of Violin Initiation and their parents/guardians. To understand the impact caused in the transversal development of skills of the participating students, with the creation of heterogeneous group classes, the active and regulated parental involvement and the use of digital resources, was the main object of study of this research. The naturalistic research, essentially qualitative in nature, followed a methodological approach to Action Research (A-R), used as techniques for data collection and production direct and participant observation, field notes recorded in the researcher's logbook, digital and audiovisual records of the sessions, qualitative feedback throughout the process and questionnaire surveys applied to students and parents at the beginning and end of the pedagogical intervention. The results obtained allow us to state that the pedagogical innovation of the different strategies streamlined during the PIP, contributed very significantly to the paired development of technical-artistic and socioemotional skills of the participating students, manifested in the evolution of the technical level of the instrument and the establishment of quality interpersonal relationships.
