Abstract

The internship report compiles my path in the acquisition and development of skills in the area of the master's degree in nursing with a specialization in medical surgical nursing in the area of nursing in the person in critical situation. With this path, I intend to be awarded the professional title of specialist nurse and master's academic through the description of care supported by scientific evidence during lived experiences and the promotion and dissemination of scientific knowledge. To achieve the outlined objectives, activities were planned and developed with subsequent analysis and reflection, encouraging the development of autonomous clinical reasoning and practice based on current scientific evidence. Delirium has a high negative impact on the person and the health institution, and it is crucial to prevent it through non-pharmacological measures. It constituted one of the transversal nursing phenomena along the three stages: General Emergency Service, Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Intensive Care Unit. A systematic review of effectiveness evidence was developed supporting the answer to research questions in fourteen articles, which followed the Joana Briggs Institute guidelines. As a nursing thought inherent to this path, it took advantage of Afaf Meleis' Theory of Transitions, given that assisting people in a transition phase is one of the most relevant roles in nursing. The development of this report allowed the consolidation and evidence of all the skills of specialist and master nurses developed, as well as the dissemination of the results of the systematic review of literature on evidence of effectiveness, through in- service training, participation in the IV Seminar International Master's in Nursingand and submission of a scientific article to the journal Nursing in Critical Care.
