Estratégias para o cuidado humanizado à pessoa em situação crítica

Abstract

In the context of nursing a person in a critical situation can emerge complexed situations that may demand specific skills. Therefore, the specialist nurse will have to be a responsive professional capable to mobilize all knowledge, who intervenes holistic with maximum quality. To take care of someone is the essence of nursing and is one of the professional foundation of the actions of a nurse who goes beyond the technics and attitudes to take care of the disease, to care of a person as a whole by maintaining their dignity and individuality. Involve a web of relationships that accompany a human being, so communication gains great importance. The nurse crowns the quality of his care reconciling science and technique aspects with humanistic side. Henceforth, a nurse is the keeper of various types of knowledge who distinguishes themselves from others, who has a special role in humanization. This report has the objective of a reflexive analysis of the developed skills acquired during the three stages of this internship: Palliative Care, Intensive Care and Emergency Service. In each period of the internship, abreast of scientific and technical aspect, I developed relationship aspects with the patient and his family, in an environment that brings high levels of anxiety and fear of the unknown, which is the environment of a hospital. Across this path I have worked the strategies for the humanization care to the person in critical condition, as a contribution to improving the quality of care. In Palliative Care, I identified the role of a nurse as a supporter to the terminally ill patient as well as their family. I have identified the family's needs and the respective nursing interventions. I have developed skills in communicate, teamwork and the control of signs and symptoms. I have sensibilized nurses to the importance of a smile as a humanization strategy to nursing care. In Intensive Care, I have mobilized the acquired knowledge during the theoretical period that contribute to the specialized care to a person who has a critical health or with a potential risk and their families. Deepened scientific knowledge and practiced new techniques, keeping the humanization of care as the foundation of my practice. For the humanization care, I tried to raise awareness among the nurses about the importance of families’ support and important people in intensive care department. The Emergency Service gave me many learning situations in urgent care patients and their families. Deepened scientific knowledge about investigating pathologies and diagnostic exams, I have gained skills on how to establish priorities in the care of an urgent patient and to act rapidly to obtain hemodynamic stabilization. I have developed activities that helped nurses to provide humanization care, sensitizing them to the strategies of communication with the patient and family emergency. The articulation of theoretical knowledge with the clinical practice and reflexion on itself has permitted a construction of professional identity as a Specialist Nurse in Medical-Surgical.
