The term humanization has been increasingly used in healthcare, thus making it important to discuss strategies that promote humanization. There are some basic ingredients for humanized care: holistic healthcare, respect for people’s individuality, attentive listening, valuing others’ beliefs and communication. While pediatrics is a field with unique needs, the ideas of humanization, personalization, and measures specific to this area are often left out of patient care. The object of study of this training course are strategies that promote humanization in the context of pediatric nursing and this report is intended to demonstrate the training course experienced in the different contexts of clinical practice through a critical, personal and professional analysis, integrating acquired knowledge and skills. Based on the humanistic nursing theory of Paterson and Zderad (1988), theoretical references and practices based on scientific evidence were articulated during this course, focusing on the humanization theme of nursing care and seeking to develop skills of nurses specialized in infant and pediatric healthcare. In this context, a scoping review entitled "Strategies promoting humanization in the context of pediatric nursing" was carried out, in which the main results point to the importance of using strategies involving hospitality, bonding, effective communication and the use of play practices. They also include the use of hospital decor and the introduction of symbolic elements as a way to humanize the hospital environment. Among the activities carried out in the different stages of the internship, the following stand out: in primary health care - implementation of a project to install the Breastfeeding Corner; in the pediatric emergency department - holding a training session on non-pharmacological strategies for pain management in children; and in the neonatal unit - completion of a course for breastfeeding promotion and the development of a plan for expecting mothers hospitalized in the maternal-fetal unit for high risk of premature birth to visit to the neonatal intensive care units.
