The endodontic treatment comprises a set of interconnected thorough clinical procedures that must be known. The canal preparation must be performed in a controlled manner to obtain one dimensional shutter without decreasing the strength of the treated tooth. With so much variety in instrumental and techniques currently available to the dental practitioner, it is essential to define a precise working methodology by comparing the various systems together. The objective of this study was to compare the maintenance of canal morphology in teeth prepared by two different rotary techniques, ProTaper® and Hyflex®, thus helping professionals in choosing the method that best suits their needs. To this end, 40 extracted molars were included in acrylic and cut in two specific zones (2mm and 7mm from the apex) and the cuts were photographed. The teeth were then divided into two groups, each prepared by one of two techniques in analysis. The cuts were photographed again and the results were compared. Though root canal transportation was noted on both testing groups, there was no statistical significance (p>0.05) in both cuts. The results indicate that both systems are comparable to each other in maintaining the canal's shape.
