A Catholic University has characteristics that differentiate it from other Universities, namely the fact of having its mission rooted in the Christian humanistic matrix and of belonging to the Church Teaching Institution and being the Church itself. The present study aimed to identify the specific characteristics of the organisational culture of a University that, being Catholic, thinks and plans itself from the Gospel and that’ why it’s entrusted with a particular mission. This mission is reflected in fundamental documents such as the Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae, in the universal sphere, in its Statutes, in the particular sphere, in many other documents of the Magisterium and in the writings of various authors. The aim of this research was to understand how the University's mission is fulfilled, taking into account an ethos and a specific organisational culture, from which we highlight the role of leaders, teachers and students, in the specific context of the Regional Centre of Porto of the Catholic University of Portugal. It was our intention to try to understand how the action of the Academic Community, in its administration, in its teaching and research and in student life, concretise the mission of a Catholic University.
