Deepening the study of families with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is relevant to understanding the impact of this condition on family dynamics and developing more effective interventions, with an important need to expand research to better meet their needs. This dissertation aimed to evaluate the marital and family experience of couples with and without children diagnosed with ASD, as well as to explore differences in marital satisfaction, perception of family experience, and perception of social support between these two groups. The impact of the severity level of ASD on these variables was also analyzed. Data were collected through the application of a self-report research protocol, involving a sample of 100 individuals. The results revealed a relationship between marital satisfaction and social support with the perception of family experience, as well as a significant difference in the perception of social support between parents of children with and without ASD. Finally, the practical implications of the results were discussed, along with the study's limitations and suggestions for future research.
