The present internship report was prepared as part of the Master's in Nursing with a Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing in the Critical Situation Nursing area at the Institute of Health Sciences of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. It describes the activities carried out during the internships in the curricular unit: Final Internship and Report. This journey aims at acquiring essential knowledge and skills in the field of critical situation nursing area with the goal of obtaining the title of specialist nurse and master in this specialty. The curricular unit includes two internship contexts: one at the Polyvalent Intensive Care Unit and another at the Hemodialysis Unit, from September 4, 2023, to December 16, 2023.The methodology adopted for this report was descriptive and critical-reflective, based on bibliographic research. The purpose of this approach is to describe and justify the path taken to acquire knowledge and skills throughout the internships. The central concern was the search for a practice of excellence in caring for Critical Care Patients, reflected in activities aimed at promoting continuous improvement in the quality of care provided and the development of nursing skills. During the internship in the Polyvalent Intensive Care Units and Hemodialysis Units, I acquired knowledge and developed specialized skills. In particular, I deepened my understanding of the activities and functions of the specialized nurse, participated in infection prevention, and optimized care management. Indeed, the internship provided insight into the complexity of Polyvalent Intensive Care Units and Hemodialysis Units. Observation, practice, and interaction with specialized professionals were important for my professional growth.
