Abstract

This report comes within the scope of obtaining an academic degree of Master and professional title of Specialist Medical-Surgical Nurse in the Area of Nursing for the Person in Critical Situation. The present report, which culminated in the work carried out during the internships, allowed the acquisition and development of common and specific skills of the specialist nurse and of a master's degree in medical-surgical nursing in the area of nursing for the person in a critical situation. I had the opportunity to do internships at the Hemodialysis Service (120 hours) and the Intensive Care Unit (240 hours). The phenomenon under study was the nurses' adherence to the mechanical ventilation-associated pneumonia prevention bundle, namely due to the factors that influence it. The area of study addressed corresponds to my interest and concern for improving the quality of care for patients undergoing Invasive Mechanical Ventilation in the context of a critical patient. In the scope of clinical practice, I carried out training and audits on the implementation of the Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia Prevention (VAP) bundle in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) service. The structuring of thought in Nursing integrated the middle range theory of Afaf Meleis - Theory of Transition.
