Abstract

This report was carried out within the scope of the curricular units Professional Practice I and Professional Practice II, included in the Masters in Music Teaching at the Catholic University of Portugal – Porto. It is divided into two parts: the first aims to highlight the learning achieved during the Professional Practice (PP), in the areas of transverse flute instrument (M08) and ensemble class (M32), and the second part contains all the information concerning the implementation and evaluation of the Pedagogical Intervention Project, designated: Flautitando: a fife e flauta trasversal. A methodological contribution to the teaching and learning of the transverse flute in specialized music education in Portugal. The professional practice was carried out during the academic year 2021/2022, at the Fundação Conservatorio Regional de Gaia (FCRG), under the scientific guidance of Professor Doutor Gil Magalhães and under the cooperative guidance of Professor Adriano Sabença, holder of the discipline of transverse flute at FCRG. , where the PIP was implemented. The lack of motivation for the individual study of the transverse flute in children was the main reason that led to the selection of this problem as the object of study of the intervention project. With the purpose of mitigating this reality, which is increasingly present in the teaching of the transverse flute, a pedagogical method entitled Flautitando: a fife e a flauta transversal was developed, intended for students of musical initiation with the fife flute and for 1st grade students. of the basic course. With this project, we sought to investigate whether students who used the method felt an increase in their motivation to study the flute at home, as they considered the method interesting, capable of facilitating the acquisition of learning, of promoting their taste for music and by the instrument, and if they were able to learn with more ease and quality the essential learning of the transverse flute discipline. This method also intends to be a contribution of pedagogical material for the teaching of transverse flute, with national origin, in Portuguese, and with characteristic Portuguese elements, at the same time as it brings together all the essential learning that beginners and 1st students. th degree in transverse flute must acquire. Four students participated in this project, two from the musical initiation degree and two from the 1st degree, aged between 9 and 10 years old. They are students who attend the Fundação Conservatório Regional de Gaia on an articulated basis. The applied research strategy, within the scope of school improvement mouvement, was essentially of a qualitative nature and consisted of a methodological approach to Action Research (I-A), since this project emerged from professional practice at FCRG. As data collection and production techniques, questionnaire surveys, direct and participant observation, documentary research, observation grids, field notes recorded in a diary by the researcher and semi-structured interviews were used. Statistical analysis and content analysis were privileged to proceed with the analysis and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data collected during the investigation. The results obtained revealed that the Flautitando: a fife e a flauta transversal in the classroom context contributed to a greater involvement on the part of the students and that this methodological contribution to the teaching of transverse flute was assumed as a booster of motivation for the individual study and increased the taste for music and the instrument in the project participants.
