This work, entitled "Training and Socio-pedagogical Practices: The Case of Re-education Technicians in Portugal" corresponds to a dissertation submitted to the Portuguese Catholic University, Faculty of Education and Psychology to obtain the degree of master’s in educational sciences with a specialization in Social Pedagogy. With this research, we sought to identify and understand the socio-pedagogical practices adopted by re-education technicians, as well as the training required for these professionals to be able to carry out effective interventions. From an empirical point of view, we opted for a case study, referring to a prison located in the north of Portugal, framed by the interpretive paradigm, using documentary research and direct consultation with actors, carried out through semi-structured interviews. The data collected and analyzed revealed the importance of specific training for re-education technicians, as well as the need to develop socio-pedagogical practices that take into account the particularities of prisoners and promote their social inclusion.
