Abstract

Adverse childhood experiences can have repercussions throughout an individual's life cycle in various contexts, particularly at school, manifesting themselves through difficulties in emotional self-regulation, in the development of safe relationships and in the learning process. Therefore, schools, as a key setting for contact with children and teenagers, should have professionals trained to manage the challenges of adversity and trauma. This study aims to evaluate the impact of the Trauma-Sensitive Care Program for school professionals, implemented in a group of schools in municipality in the north of the country. It reports results regarding the participants´ training level in Trauma Sensitive Care, assessed at pre-and post- test, as well as their satisfaction with the training program. The pre-test results highlight professionals' insufficient preparation to intervene sensitively with their students. However, after completing the training, there was a significant increase in participants´ level of training in trauma-sensitive care, along with high satisfaction with the program. These results demonstrate that the training program successfully achieved its goal of improving the professionals 8level of training. The discussion highlights the importance of training educational agents to better identify and respond to trauma effectively.
