The everyday life instances, combined with the current social situation, have required, to the common citizen, the take of strategies able to manage their needs. The precariousness of work, low wages, the scarcity of life, the increase of cash benefits paid to the State and the deteriorating social conditions have led to an increasing number of people seek in the double-employment an outlet for their problems. However, it assumes costs that are important to determine and minimize. This requires: the determination of the real reasons why certain workers opt for double-employment; the analysis of the strategies undertaken by them with a view to a better time management devoted to each of the professional activities and life outside of work; and the identification of the perceived impact of dual employment in health and personal/family life. In this sense, we have integrated in the sample of this study participants engaged in a professional activity, being the first common – the military – and, the second activity, which includes work in different roles and contexts. Through semi-structured interviews to eleven military, and using the computer application NVivo9 in the analysis and data processing, we were able to conclude that the economic reasons, the desire to define professional alternatives, the opportunity to acquire experience and habituation justify the option for dual employment. We also have conclude that if individuals have found strategies likely to meet conciliation between two professional activities, a situation like this will eventually bring negligible costs for them, for their health and for thir family relationships.
