With the world in constant transformation, the purpose of companies has long ceased to be just a mere creation of economic value. The importance of contributions to society is highlighted, which is, the ability of companies to prioritize the creation of positive social impact for different stakeholder groups. Sustainability in business has become an (almost) mandatory principle, given that there is an increasing awareness of the different stakeholders, who require words, strategies and actions from the companies, in order to counteract the social and environmental crises that are gaining ground in today's society. The present dissertation therefore seeks to understand how PSI-20 companies respond to these requirements, starting from the following research question: “How do PSI-20 companies view the issue of their social impact?”. As a result of the research, based on the corporate reports of the nineteen companies, it is concluded that, although some companies do not go beyond the mere communication of the keywords associated to social impact, and obtained through the literature review, most of them present a lot of consistency in transforming words into strategies and, finally, into actions. It should be noted that sometimes they do not do so under the name of social impact, but that is not why they fail to capture the essence of the topic.
