This report stems from my concern as a nurse specialist in providing care, which comes from my professional experience, as well as from the weaknesses still existing in relation to the therapeutic error and the way in which it is faced. Training and research are determining dimensions in the process of personal and professional development. Throughout this report, I share results coming from a scoping review. I present some strategies found in the literature about how the therapeutic error should be approached. Through the evidence-based practice, I justify the acquisition of specific competences in the medical-surgical area, without forgetting the ethical and deontological principles of the nurse. The quality of health care provided to citizens has gained increasing importance in the scientific research produced, with patient safety as the main objective. For a safe use of the drug, the international approach advocates the adoption of strategies to reduce the prevalence of incidents, both organizationally and individually. The organization of the report follows the guideline for the provision of specialized care to the Person in Critical Situation, starting my journey in the intensive care unit, through the operating room and finally in the emergency department. Throughout this course, I also participated in conferences where I was able to share the results of the research. The paper is divided into two parts: the first part presents the current scientific evidence, through a scoping review, whose objective is to identify the strategies to minimize the therapeutic error; in the second part we proceed to the description, analysis and reflection on the events that allowed me to develop specific skills recommended by the School and by the Order of Nurses for the specialist nurse in Medical- Surgical Nursing, specifically in the provision of critical care to the client. Future responsibilities arise, in the continuum of professional and personal development, promoting the excellence of nursing practice.
