Abstract

In nursing education, it is indispensable to have a practical training (clinical teaching) that should alternate with theoretical training, since the production of competences is not only a matter of training acquired in a school context, but also of the training acquired at work / work placements . It is in acting in a situation that the skills are developed or put another way, the science and art of nursing care form an integrated whole. This internship report, framed the Master's Degree in Nursing of a professional nature, areas of medical specialization in Nursing, aimed at acquiring competence to provide specialized care in Medical-Surgical Nursing. In order to reach the proposed objectives, I chose to perform an internship in the Emergency Department (Module I), Intensive Care Unit - Polyvalent Intensive Care Unit (Module II) and finally in the Emergency Medical and Resuscitation Vehicle (Module III), Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Norte - Hospital of Santa Maria. The present report is organized according to the competencies advocated by the Catholic University curriculum demonstrating and reflecting on activities developed throughout the three internship modules, allowing to highlight the development of the competencies advocated in the different contexts of care delivery. This report is the culmination of a competency acquisition course, being present in it the theory that underpinned the clinical practice and the analysis of the activities carried out to achieve the objectives outlined. Among the acquired competences is the care of the person experiencing complex illness processes in the critical patient in various contexts, from prehospital to hospitalization in a differentiated care unit. Reflecting on practice is itself a practice of formation because it reveals the possibility of transformation of the world and ways of knowing it, so that the reflective individual becomes master of his own choices.
